Test Equipment By GM4FZH

Last Thursday 19th May saw a very interesting and informative talk on the building and use of test equipmen by Clive GM4FZH, from a simple dummy load to more complex RF measuring kit. Clive brought along a large selection of test kit which is in almost daily use in his shack. Members were encouraged to try out the equipment and club president Ellis GM0HPK took the oppertunity to set up one of his own 2Mtr VHF cavity filters. Our picture shows Clive (seated) with Ellis looking on.

Titanic Special Event Station GB100MUC 14/15 April 2012

This has been the best Public Relations event that the Club has been involved with. As part of the Dalbeattie museum Titanic exhibition everyone who visited the museum was directed through to our station. Excellent leaflets put together by Davy MM0KBT and Neil MM0NEO, were handed out and all visitors were given a brief explanation of what our objective was.

We even had an interactive area with a Morse key and oscillator where kids young and old could send the CQD call or their name. It proved very popular. We had a photoshoot with two newspapers and a crew from Border TV took a short clip. So all in we certainly publicised Wigtownshire ARC, D&G Raynet and amateur radio in general.

The station was single radio multi operator and we had a good turn out of loggers and operators. With 1024 contacts logged over the two days it was an enjoyable an productive weekend.
